"River X" Brazil
There is nowhere on earth that can provide the level of fish and wildlife diversity that the angler can find in the Amazon.
With Macaws flying over head and monkeys howling in the canopy, the River X Peacock Bass operations offer one of the great fly-fishing environments on earth. Peacock Bass' explosive strike and saltwater speed will leave anglers positively stunned by the jungle's beauty as well as its fish.
Brazil offers incredible fishing as well an opportunity to experience the greatest collection of birdlife and wildlife in the world.
Join us in Brazil this winter. We look forward to fishing with you.
Sweetwater operates on two different rivers located in the Brazilian state of Roraima on tributaries of the Branco River. Both rivers have been selected for their water clarity and the quality of their fly-fishing opportunities. The fisheries revolve around the lagoons, inland lakes and river channel.
Butterfly peacocks are numerous and take poppers and streamers greedily. These fish fight hard and jump often.
River channel fishing is what makes these systems so special.
The smaller peacocks are in the shallow water and respond well to any quickly stripped baitfish pattern. The Temensis and Spotted peacocks roam throughout the rivers in search of food. If they are actively eating (there is rarely any question as the water is exploding with colorful baitfish), any cast will do. In other cases, singles or doubles are spooky and require good casts. These are exciting shots as in most cases you can see the fish coming from a long ways.
In addition to the fishing, you will see
remarkable birdlife and wildife on these rivers. This past year, we watched flocks of macaws fly noisily across the river, toucan fly furtively across a lagoon, and, most impressively, a jaguar hunt and eat a capybara. If the fishing ever slows down, you will be able to experience the biological diversity that still exists in pristine portions of rain forest.
The River X is a backcountry adventure with
camps set up on sand bars in air conditioned, tented barges that move up and down the river as needed. It is a great way to experience the Amazon and to access the pristine rivers that provide some of the best Peacock Bass fly-fishing available anywhere.
