Bow River Report - May 16th, 2007
Fishing Conditions
The Bow is fishing quite well right now, with nymphs and streamers still the most productive methods. Fish your streamers “low and slow,” but make sure that you do not ignore the shallower riffles. You can find some very big fish pushed up in shallow water at the moment.
The Highwood is still pumping in some dirty water, so most of the river is quite coloured at McKinnon’s Flats. Try to stay upstream of the Highwood for the most consistent fishing.
In the last few days we have seen a number of rainbows that have just returned from the spawn. This is good news for the fishing, but these fish will not be in fine fighting shape for a few weeks. The dry fly season will officially open soon with the arrival of the “Mother’s Day” Caddis. We have been seeing a number of these bugs in the last couple of days, but the caddis fishing has not yet been consistent. Keep your eyes open for rising fish in the coming days. This hatch often provides the best dry fly action of the year, so get out there!

Crowsnest River Report - May 16th, 2007
Fishing Conditions
The Crow is high and quite dirty with spring runoff. Though the river may have about 1'-11/2' of visibility, it is high enough to make fishing it very difficult. With rain in the forecast, the prospects for improved water clarity in coming days are not good.
Many of the lakes in the area are fishing quite well, such as Lee, Beauvais, and Beaver Mines. These lakes offer a good "Plan B" for those who make the trek down to the Pass.

Chironimids, Callibaetis.

Nymphs: Chironimid Bombers, Green-Backed Pheasants, Grizzly Damsel, Grizzly Dragon, Flash-Backed Scud.
