Bow River Report - July 13th, 2007
Fishing Conditions
Visibily continues to improve on the river. Sight fishing is not only possible but very good right now. Levels have been fairly stable the last few days at around 175 CMS. Hopefully the idiots who control discharges stop their 30 CMS drops like we saw last Wednesday (not real good for happy fish on the banks.)
Not a lot of new stonefly shucks on the banks so the emergence is likely on the downside.
Don't worry though, the fish will be imprinted with them for a while. Best fishing with the heat is still early or late in the day. Nymph fishing with small bead heads is working very well, especially if you can spot the fish first (try tungsten beads, it make a big difference). Streamer fishing has remained fairly good even with the bright days. PMDs are around but not a lot of fish on them in the sun but lots on the cloudy days. Dry fly action on the caddis has been pretty good in the evenings. Lots of hopper noise on the south facing banks last week so keep your fingers crossed for a good hopper year.
