Bow River Report - December 2, 2009
Fishing Conditions
The river has fished on again/off again for the last week or so. One day fishing really wee, the next not so good. It seems to be a lot about finding where the fish are holding right now. The expected cold snap will keep us off the river for a few days but it is supposed to warm up middle of next week.
Streamer fishing has been hit and misses. You need to fish them very slowly right now and basically hit the fish in the face.
The very best bet for fish has been the nymph. Anglers have been having the best success with 3 fly rigs: Wire Worm, then Tungsten Bead fly, finishing with a very small nymph, preferably a midge imitation.
Although there have been a ton of Midges, it’s not likely you will see fish rising at 33 Fahrenheit water temperatures.
Hatches:
Midges.
Streamers:
¼ Pound Bugger, Conehead Rubberleg Bow River Bugger, Garrrett’s Bellydancer, Clouser, Near-Nuff Sculpin.
Nymphs:
B/H Wire Worm, Tung Stud, Tungsten Soft Hackle, TB Super Pupa, Tailwater Tiny.
Dry Flies:
Griffith Gnat.

Crowsnest River Report - December 2, 2009
Fishing Conditions
Have not heard too much from the Crow in the last week or so. We did hear from an angler who had some very good streamer fishing for Bull Trout a few days ago.
Like most winters, when warm enough, it’s generally worth getting out and fishing. With the colder weather expected over the next several days that might be tough. There will also be more and more of the river start to ice over.
Hatches:
Midges.
Streamers:
Brunette Leech, Chamois Leech.
Nymphs:
Pheasant-Tail, Hare's Ear, Copper John, Tung Stud, and San Juan Worm.
Dries:
Griffith Gnat.
