Our Team - The Staff of Country Pleasures
Kev has been fishing Southern Alberta since he was a teenager and has extensive experience in both fresh and salt water. His knowledge and demeanor are second to none that you’ll find in a fly shop. In addition to shop and guiding duties, Kevin instructs all of our Introductory Fly Fishing Schools.
Kelly spends his time off from his real job on the Calgary Fire Department to work here in the shop. Kelly has been fly fishing for a very long time and he’s very knowledgeable. He’s worked in a couple fly shops over the years and certainly knows his stuff.
When Josh isn’t teaching school in Lethbridge, he’s often working in the shop or, in tandem with Kevin, teaching all of our Basic Flyfishing Schools. Josh fishes a ton, all over the place. His latest affliction is Steelheading, taking him to the west coast a couple of times a year. Along with Kevin, Josh also teaches all of our Introductory Fly Fishing Schools.
Mike was born and raised in Calgary and has fished and bird hunted since he was a little kid. Once upon a time (starting in the mid-80s) he guided on the Bow River and around Southern Alberta but just spends his time fishing now. These days, if he’s not in the shop, he’s either on a Permit flat or fishing the Bow.
In late spring every year, Kevin shifts from shop duties to guiding duties. He has guided on the Bow for over 20 years and is known as one of the very best out there.
Quinn has been guiding yearly on the Bow since he was in his late teens, adding up to almost 25 years now. Not only an avid fisherman but also a bird hunter, a day out with Quinn is always a great day.
In the off season Joe spends his time as a teacher. He has been guiding for the shop for 15 years now and guided for a number of years before that. Joe is an original, a day spent with Joe will always contain a lot of laughs.
Blair joined our guiding staff just a few years ago but has quickly become a really good fishing guide. Everybody enjoys their day with Blair, one of the nicer guys you’ll ever spend a day with. And his clients catch a ton of fish.
Darcy first started fishing the Bow as a kid in the mid-70s and started guiding for Country Pleasures in the mid-90s.
Bird and Bow hunting are also major focuses in Darcy’s life, along with his wife and 2 kids.
Not only a Trout guy, he can talk of his time spent fishing for Salmon, Steelhead, Tarpon, Bonefish, and Permit as well.
