Crowsnest River Guided Trips
Our guides have fished this wonderful stream for years. They can help increase your success even on the most challenging days. Trips to the Crowsnest river usually commence by meeting the guide at Country Pleasures around 8:00 AM. The 2 hour drive from the shop goes by quickly as it is a scenic drive through classic Alberta terrain. You are fishing by mid to late morning until the supper hour or later. Your guide provides a hearty lunch and all beverages for the day. After the fishing your guide drops you back at the shop.
Should you wish to stay in the Crowsnest Pass instead of the Calgary area we have access to the finest Bed and Breakfast accommodations in the area. We would be happy to put together a package including guiding and accommodations. Your guide would then pick you up at your lodging and drive a short distance, or in some cases, just walk you to the prime locations right outside your door.
Please see our rates below and feel free to contact us to discuss any questions you may have in planning to fish the terrific stream.
Crowsnest River Information
Set in the foothills just east of the Rocky Mountains, the Crowsnest River provides a beautiful setting for the angler to pursue wild Rainbow Trout. The fishing rates as one of the best available in Alberta.
The past several seasons has seen the river evolve into a much more technical fishery that can challenge even the most accomplished angler. Large trout sipping small insects in smooth tailouts or back eddies or sight fishing to trout nymphing in buckets or runs can provide some of these challenges. Of course, there are times, earlier in the season, where the fishing can be less difficult.
The Crowsnest River hosts all of the great insect hatches that one would expect in a western trout stream. Baetis, Midges, Salmon flies, Golden Stones, PMDs, Caddis & Tricos are all present in large numbers. The Rainbows readily feed on them, making for large, healthy trout.
