El Pescador - Punta Gorda
El Pescador, Punta Gorda is a world class fly fishing resort in Southern Belize that hosts the world's most prolific Permit fishery on the flats. We also have great opportunities for both salt and fresh water species.
Whether Fly or Spin fishing is your game, the availability of permit, seasonal tarpon, snook and bonefish make Southern Belize an exceptional fishing opportunity all 12 months of the year. In addition to the Permit, El Pescador, Punta Gorda offers opportunities for several additional saltwater species including barracuda, jack crevelle, snapper, and King Fish. We encourage you to take advantage of this unique Permit fishery but remember this opportunity is never easy for the weak at heart..."it's challenging". Spending a long travel day at the reef chasing bonefish, heading up one of many jungle rivers hunting tarpon or snook and hitting the lagoon and flats for Permit is all apart of El Pescador, Punta Gorda!
Belize Fishing
Bone Fish
The bonefish grounds are 10 to 20 minutes from the lodge and the tarpon flats begin 20 minutes from there. Most of the bone fishing is done from the bow of a boat but there are 4 or 5 flats that can be waded. The bones run from 2-5 lbs. and are plentiful. The tarpon flats are 3-8 feet deep and are quite extensive, approximately 35 miles long by 15 miles wide.
Tarpon
Not all the tarpon flats are fishable everyday due to changing weather conditions and currents, but generally speaking, we have good tarpon fishing all year round. The tarpon run from 10 to100+ lbs.; the average winter fish is about 50-60 lbs. with the average summer fish being 90-150 lbs.
Permit
Permit are found on the bonefish flats, some of the shallow tarpon flats as well as in waves coming over the reef. Our permit range from 4-30 lbs. with the majority being about 8-10 lbs. and found in large schools. Jack crevalle, barracuda, cobia and snook are also found on the flats and in the surrounding mangrove lagoons.
Reef Fishing
El Pescador clients can also enjoy fishing the reef for snappers, grouper, wahoo, mackerel, jacks, cobia, barracuda, king fish, rainbow runners, trigger fish and during mid-May to mid-August, tarpon.

Ambergris package includes
The number of nights lodging and days fishing specified in your package, roundtrip land and air transfers between Belize City and El Pescador (including air, land and sea), 7% hotel tax, sales tax where applicable, 3 meals per day, local Belizean beverages (including soda, beer and rum) and a welcome drink.
Rates
Ambergris rates (2005) - A 7 night/6 day fishing package is $2750 USD. Based on double occupancy.
Punta Gorda package includes
The number of nights lodging and days fishing specified in your package, roundtrip land and air transfers between Belize City and El Pescador, 7% hotel tax, sales tax where applicable, 3 meals per day, local Belizean beverages (including soda, beer and rum), complimentary use of all amenities (tram, pool, internet, canoe, bikes, etc) and a welcome drink.
Rates
Punta Gorda (2005) - A 7 night/6 day fishing package is $2995 USD. Based on double occupancy.
Reservation Policy (Ambergris & Punta Gorda)
A non-refundable deposit of 50% per person is required to hold both space and guides on all packages. No space or guides will be held without receipt of deposit. Full pre-payment is due at El Pescador 90 days prior to arrival.
Cancellation Policy (Ambergris & Punta Gorda)
All cancellations must be received in writing at the lodge. Prior to 90 days 100% of deposit may be transferred to another date/angler. Between 45 - 90 days 50% of package may be transferred to another date or angler. Less than 45 days may not be transferred or refunded. All cancellations have a $100 processing fee per guest.
